Seeing Christ in the face of the poor

The Vincentian Family Daily Intention: April 21, 2026

Today, April 21, 2026, we, the members of the Vincentian Family, pray for those who feel distant from God and faith communities.

Some hearts walk in silence, unsure if God is still listening. Others feel excluded from religious communities that no longer seem like home.

As Vincentians, we believe God is never far. He walks with every seeker, waits with patience, and speaks gently through love.

We pray today for all who feel disconnected—may they encounter a Church that listens, welcomes, and reflects God’s mercy.

Word of God
“Return to me with all your heart, for I am gracious and compassionate.”
(Joel 2:12–13)

Prayer
God of welcome, draw near to those who feel far from You. Renew our Church so that all may feel they belong, and no one walks alone. Amen.

On this same day, we also celebrate the foundation of the Sisters of the Holy Eucharist, established in 1889, an Eastern Catholic Congregation originating in Thessaloniki, Greece. Founded by Lazarist Father Giuseppe Aloati, C.M., and his sister, Christina (who took the religious name Sister Eurozia), the community was modeled after the Vincentian Daughters of Charity. They devoted themselves to charitable works, opening orphanages, sewing workshops for girls, and agricultural schools for boys in rural villages. In 1892 they relocated their base to Paljurci in the Gevgelija region, expanding into missions across Macedonia. After World War I they settled in Sofia, Bulgaria, where they continued their ministry among orphans and the poor, even under communist suppression.
