On March 15, 2026, we, the members of the Vincentian Family, pray for the worldwide end of the death penalty.
The Gospel calls us to protect life, even when it is wounded or broken. The death penalty denies mercy and closes the door to redemption.
Saint Vincent treated prisoners with deep respect. He believed no life is beyond God’s grace.
We pray for a world that chooses mercy over vengeance. May every person be seen with dignity, even in their worst hour.
Word of God
“Do not repay anyone evil for evil.” (Romans 12:17)
Prayer
God of life, awaken hearts to the sacredness of every human life. End executions, and lead us to justice that heals. Amen.
On this same day, we celebrate the foundation of the Vincentian Friends on the Periphery, established in 2020 in Maryland, United States of America. Rooted in the Gospel and the spirit of St. Vincent de Paul, this lay-led initiative was born to accompany families and individuals living on the margins—particularly Latino newcomers in urban communities—offering not just charitable aid but relational solidarity and hope. Vincentian Friends on the Periphery fosters grassroots networks where volunteers walk alongside those facing exclusion, supporting their access to resources, building community, and empowering them through accompaniment, prayer, and shared life. Since its founding, the group has grown into a vibrant movement of friendship and justice, reminding us that genuine Vincentian service happens when we stand with those overlooked by society, echoing Christ’s love through humble presence and heartfelt accompaniment.
