Seeing Christ in the face of the poor

Three Pauses for Peace: A Vincentian Invitation on the Feast of St. Joseph

by Vincentian Family Office | Mar 11, 2026 | Featured, News

On this Feast of St. Joseph, may our three simple pauses become one continuous prayer rising from the heart of the Vincentian Family. United across nations and cultures, may we become instruments of the peace we ask God to grant the world.

On March 19, the Feast of St. Joseph, the Vincentian Family around the world is invited to participate in a simple yet deeply meaningful initiative: a united day of prayer for global peace. In a world wounded by war, violence, displacement, and division, we respond first not with words or strategies, but with faith. We come together spiritually, across cultures and continents, trusting in the power of prayer to open paths where human efforts alone often fall short.

This initiative is rooted in the figure of St. Joseph—Protector of Life, Guardian of the Holy Family, and a silent yet courageous servant of God’s plan. Joseph knew what it meant to protect his loved ones in times of danger. He experienced uncertainty, exile, and hardship. For this reason, he stands as a powerful intercessor for families suffering today because of conflict and instability.

The proposal is simple: on March 19, each member of the Vincentian Family is invited to pause three times during the day for one minute of intentional prayer for peace. These brief moments—morning, midday, and evening—become a global chain of intercession. Though separated by distance and time zones, we are united in spirit, forming a single prayer that rises to God from every corner of the world.

We warmly encourage you to share this opportunity wherever you live and serve. Invite your family, friends, coworkers, school children, parishioners, volunteers, and collaborators to join in these three simple pauses. The more hearts that unite in prayer, the stronger our visible and invisible bonds of solidarity become. What begins as one minute can expand into a powerful movement of hope.

Through this collective act of faith, we renew our commitment to be peacemakers in the spirit of the Gospel and in the charism of St. Vincent. May our prayer not only ask for peace, but also shape our hearts to become instruments of reconciliation, hope, and compassionate service to those most affected by violence.
