Meetings with the Consortium of Vincentian Educational Institutions and with the Vincentian Family of Puerto Rico

    1. CIEV Meeting

On January 29, I had the opportunity to meet with 250 administrators and teachers from educational institutions in Puerto Rico that are part of the national Consortium of the Vincentian Educational Institutions (CIEV). Eight representatives from the CIEV of the Dominican Republic also participated in this gathering. Prayer, fraternal encounter, and discernment—understood as the search for God’s will—deeply animated this day, which was structured around the central theme: “Walking in Vincentian Pedagogy: discernment, service, and mission,” in the light of the Little Method.

The reflection took place within the context of the profound and global transformation currently affecting education, a system marked by the impact of new technologies and artificial intelligence. In this challenging scenario, Vincentian educators were invited to live with boldness and courage a deep renewal in the way they embody the core principles of Vincentian pedagogy.

Three specific transformations were discussed, not as additional demands, but as a renewed way of living the charism in the educational mission:

    • Vincentian educators as artisans of discernment and of meaning in life, capable of accompanying processes and not merely transmitting content.
    • Vincentian pedagogy lived through a presence that educates for self-care, mutual care, and social care, rooted in a charism that stands on the historical peripheries and alongside the excluded.
    • Vincentian teachers who live their educational mission as witnesses to a new way of being human—deeply relational (as proposed in the Gospel)—offering children and young people credible, integral, and hope-filled human role models.

Embracing the Little Method today implies radically humanizing pedagogical action. It means believing that, even in the midst of the most advanced technology, what is small, simple, and relational—what is truly human—continues to be the place where life can survive and flourish.

Meeting with the CIEV of Puerto Rico, held on Friday, January 29, 2026, with 250 teachers and school administrators.

    2. Meeting with the Vincentian Family of Puerto Rico

On Saturday, January 30, the journey continued with a fraternal and formative gathering with the Vincentian Family of Puerto Rico, warmly welcomed by the new members of the National Coordination.

The reflection focused on several fundamental dimensions of our Vincentian identity today:

    • A sense of belonging and affiliation.
    • The Vincentian Family as a living reservoir of the charism.
    • The transformation of structures that respond to new realities in order to keep the flame of the charism burning.

On the threshold of the Fifth Centennial of the Vincentian Charism, we humbly and hopefully recognize that we are responsible for the Vincentian ecosystem we have received and that we are called to care for it, renew it, and pass it on.

Thank you to all the members of the Vincentian Family of Puerto Rico, and to all those who are part of the CIEV, for the passion and commitment with which you live the charism, and for the warm and generous welcome that made these days a true experience of communion, discernment, and shared mission. We continue walking together, with our feet firmly on the ground and our hearts rooted in the Gospel.
