After her death in 1821, Elizabeth was buried on the grounds where she had lived, taught, and loved. Today, the Basilica of the National Shrine of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton stands as a testament to her legacy. The White House, where she died, has been preserved as a sacred space. Her remains now lie in the basilica built in her honor.
