The Vincentian Family Daily Intention: January 21, 2026

On January 21, 2026, we, the members of the Vincentian Family, pray for teachers and educators committed to forming consciences.

Educators are builders of the future. Through them, minds are opened, hearts are shaped, and values are passed on. Their work is sacred, especially when it uplifts the poor and forgotten.

Saint Vincent founded schools and trained teachers for children lacking access to education. He knew that education is a pathway to dignity and freedom.

We pray for all educators—especially those in underfunded schools and difficult settings. May they be sustained by love for their students and supported in their mission to form just and compassionate leaders.

Word of God
“Train children in the right way, and when old, they will not stray.”
(Proverbs 22:6)

Prayer
God of wisdom, bless those who teach and guide others. Fill them with patience, creativity, and love. May their work help shape a world where knowledge leads to compassion and truth. Amen.

On this same day, we also joyfully celebrate the foundation of the Sisters of St. Vincent de Paul, Servants of the Poor, a Congregation established in 1818 by Baroness Elisabeth de Robiano in Gijzegem, Belgium. Moved by the deep poverty in her region and inspired by the spirituality of St. Vincent de Paul, Elisabeth began by founding a spinning school for poor children, which quickly grew into a thriving community devoted to education, healthcare, and service to the most vulnerable. Over more than two centuries, the Congregation expanded across three continents—Belgium, Brazil, and the Congo—remaining faithful to its mission despite modern challenges. Rooted in simplicity, humility, and love, the Sisters continue to be a beacon of hope, embodying a living legacy of Vincentian charity and commitment to the poor.
