On January 11, 2026, we, the members of the Vincentian Family, pray for prisoners, especially the forgotten and unjustly detained.
Behind bars, many feel abandoned by society, by loved ones, even by God, and yet Christ Himself was imprisoned and condemned—standing in solidarity with all who suffer injustice.
Saint Vincent never saw prisoners as beyond redemption. He reached out to convicts with mercy and pastoral care, reminding us that no one is defined solely by their worst mistake.
We pray today for those incarcerated—those truly guilty and those falsely accused. We remember the poor who lack legal defense, the elderly and the ill behind bars, and those awaiting judgment in silence. May our world learn to punish with justice, and to restore with compassion.
Word of God
“I was in prison and you visited me.”
(Matthew 25:36)
Prayer
Merciful God, You are close to those the world forgets. Visit the imprisoned with Your peace. Heal what is broken, convert what is hardened, and comfort what is wounded. Teach us to see in each prisoner a child of God. Amen.
