On January 10, 2026, we the members of the Vincentian Family pray for indigenous peoples and the protection of their rights.
Across the world, indigenous communities face the loss of land, language, culture, and life itself. Too often, they are silenced, displaced, and exploited. Yet their wisdom, spiritual depth, and care for creation are treasures for all humanity.
Saint Vincent de Paul called us to stand with the poor wherever they are oppressed. Today, this includes walking alongside indigenous peoples—listening, defending, honoring their dignity, and amplifying their voice.
We pray that governments, churches, and societies may recognize and protect indigenous rights. May the Vincentian Family stand as allies for justice, reconciliation, and the preservation of ancestral traditions and sacred lands.
Word of God
“Learn to do good; seek justice, rescue the oppressed, defend the orphan, plead for the widow.”
(Isaiah 1:17)
Prayer
Creator God, You dwell in every culture and land. Bless the indigenous peoples of the world, protect their rights, and heal past wounds. Make us defenders of their dignity and allies in their struggles. May Your justice roll like a river through every forgotten land. Amen.
