On January 9, 2026, we, the members of the Vincentian Family, pray for those who live on the streets and have no shelter.
Homelessness is not just the absence of a roof—it is the absence of safety, community, and dignity. Each person without shelter bears a story of struggle, rejection, and resilience.
Saint Vincent insisted that the poor be treated not as burdens but as our masters. He did not merely give alms—he built homes and created systems of care. Today, we inherit this responsibility.
We pray for our brothers and sisters who sleep outside, who go unseen, or who are driven away by fear and indifference. May they find warmth, welcome, and a place to belong. May we act to change the systems that keep people homeless.
Word of God
“Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head.”
(Luke 9:58)
Prayer
God of refuge, shelter all who are homeless tonight. Comfort their hearts, protect their bodies, and awaken compassion in our communities. Help us build a world where everyone has a place to call home. Through Christ, who walked the streets with the poor. Amen.
