On January 3, 2026, we, the members of the Vincentian Family, pray for all those who lack dignified work.

Work is a sacred right and a path to dignity and participation in society. Yet many live without employment, or are forced into jobs that exploit them or deny their worth. Working poverty is a deep wound that harms individuals and entire communities.

Saint Vincent taught us that charity includes a commitment to justice. As Vincentians, we must walk with the unemployed, support fair labor conditions, and advocate for a society where every person’s work is valued.

Today we pray for leaders and institutions—that they may create systems that serve the common good. We remember those who seek jobs in despair, those who work long hours for unfair pay, and those who are cast aside as “useless.” May our compassion be active, and our faith lead to action.

Prayer
Lord of work and rest, You sanctified labor with Your own hands. Look with love upon those who suffer from unemployment or unjust work. Renew their strength, open new opportunities, and inspire us to stand with them. May dignified labor be a sign of Your Kingdom come. Amen.
