The Vincentian Family Daily Intention: January 2, 2026

by | Jan 2, 2026 | Reflections, The Vincentian Family Daily Intention

On January 2, 2026, we, the members of the Vincentian Family, pray for migrants and refugees around the world.

Millions are forced to leave their homelands due to violence, hunger, climate change, or persecution. They carry with them little more than fear and hope, seeking a place where they can live in dignity. In their eyes, we see the face of Christ the Migrant, who also knew what it meant to be a stranger.

As the Vincentian Family, we cannot remain passive. We are called to welcome, protect, promote, and integrate our migrant brothers and sisters. Saint Vincent de Paul reminded us that true charity means action—defending human dignity and serving those most forgotten.

Today we lift up in prayer all those who live the pain of exile, who perish at sea, who are turned away at borders, or suffer from racism and exploitation. May the world see them not as threats, but as fellow human beings. May we, as Vincentians, continue to be homes with open doors, prophetic voices, and tables where all are welcome.

Word of God
“I was a stranger and you welcomed me.”
(Matthew 25:35)

Prayer
God of compassion, You guided Your Son through the path of exile—walk today with those who flee in search of safety and life. Make us hands that welcome, hearts that understand, and communities that embrace. May no one feel like a stranger among us. Through Christ, who walks with the poor. Amen.

On this same day, we celebrate the foundation of the Louise de Marillac Vincentian Foundation, established in 1933 in Colombia. For over ninety years, this institution has served as a sanctuary for the elderly—offering not only physical care but also emotional and spiritual healing. Rooted in the Vincentian charism of St. Louise de Marillac and St. Vincent de Paul, the foundation provides a loving home where dignity, compassion, and the value of every life are honored. Many of the residents arrive after lives marked by both joy and hardship, and within the walls of the foundation, they find a renewed sense of belonging. Here, aging is not met with neglect, but with reverence. The staff and volunteers accompany each person with tenderness and respect, reminding them daily that their lives, stories, and presence still matter deeply. In every smile and every embrace, the Foundation rekindles hope, offering light and warmth to those who once gave so much and now deserve to be cherished.
