International Contest for Young Vincentian Storytellers: Still Time to Participate

by | Nov 6, 2025 | News | 0 comments

The Vincentian Family Office once again invites young people from around the world to take part in the International Contest for Young Vincentian Storytellers — a creative initiative to evangelize, inspire, and give voice to the saints and blesseds of the Vincentian Family, not as figures of the past, but as living role models for our times.

What is the contest about?

  • The theme — simple yet profound — is: “The Saints Are Still Alive Today!” Participants are invited to choose a saint or blessed linked to the Vincentian tradition (the official list can be found on the FamVin ordo website) and create a short video (between 3 and 5 minutes) showing how that person’s life, message, or witness continues to inspire the world today.
  • Beyond retelling biographical facts, participants are encouraged to express creatively — through documentary, animation, theater, music, poetry, or other forms — the contemporary relevance of that saint or blessed, highlighting their spiritual, ethical, or social message.
  • The contest is part of the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Vincentian Family Office.

Awards and visibility

Prizes will be awarded to the three best videos:

  • First prize: $1,500
  • Second prize: $1,000
  • Third prize: $500

Winning and notable videos may also be shared on Vincentian Family communication channels, reaching communities around the world.

Original schedule (and the extension)

The original deadline for submitting videos was October 15, 2025.

But now we can announce an extension: the new deadline to submit videos has been moved to November 14, 2025.
That means young people have more time to research, prepare, and refine their creative proposals before submission.

Who can participate?

The contest is open to young Vincentians (or young people from the Vincentian Family) from anywhere in the world. The goal is to engage those who feel close to the Vincentian charism and give them a space to express and share their vision.

How to participate?

  1. Choose a saint or blessed from the official Vincentian Family list (available on the FamVin ordo website).
  2. Create a 3–5-minute video telling their story and showing how their legacy remains alive today.
  3. Feel free to be creative — documentary, animation, dramatization, music, or poetry are all welcome.
  4. Submit the video before November 14, 2025 (new deadline).

Why it’s worth it

This contest is more than a competition: it’s a chance for young Vincentians to express their creativity, deepen their faith, and make their voices heard — voices that connect history, mission, and the present.

It’s an invitation to discover that Vincentian saints — often seen as figures of the past — still speak powerfully to the challenges of our world today: poverty, injustice, migration, inequality, and hope.

With this extended deadline, there’s now extra time to reflect, create, and share works of quality.
If you know young people who might be interested, please share this invitation with them.
