From May to June 1853, the Ozanam family located in San Jacopo near Livorno on the Mediterranean. The sea air briefly energized Ozanam. Just before moving yet again, Frédéric and Amélie celebrated their twelfth wedding anniversary, on June 23, 1853. It would be their last wedding anniversary. Amélie fondly recalled sitting on the balcony in San Jacopo with her husband as the sun set over the nearby port. Just before Ozanam’s death, they would sail out of Livorno on the steamer Industry, which docked in Marseille on September 2, 1853.
