The Vincentian Family of Mozambique is celebrating its journey in 2025 with joy and hope. At the beginning of the year, Sister Maria do Céu, Daughter of Charity and national coordinator of the Family, shared with the branches the annual program, which includes a series of activities, among them two national meetings, one in the first semester and another in the second. There will be also a third event at the time of the celebration of the feast of St. Vincent de Paul.

In May 2025, the National Council of the Vincentian Family in Mozambique traveled to the provinces to visit, animate, awaken and revitalize the Vincentian Family, based on the motto: “The Vincentian, Pilgrim of Hope and Charity”. The first province to hold the meeting was Gaza, on May 4, 2025, where the various branches of the Family were present. More than 400 people participated in the meeting, whose activities included: a) prayer, b) formation, c) celebration and d) sharing.

According to Sister Maria do Céu, “the meetings have four moments: we start the day together, praying. We have the formation part, with the theme already prepared. Then we have the sharing. One group brings beans, another brings rice, another brings oil. Then we all join together: priests, sisters, SSVP, youth, everyone. Then we gather all that we have collected and distribute it among the poorest.” The meetings end with a meal, where everyone socializes and reinforces their fellowship through recreation.

For the second half of the year, the theme will be the content of the Final Document of the meeting of the 2nd Convocation of the Vincentian Family, Rome 2024: “Keeping the fire burning, Vincentian Synodality in action.”

The month of June will be special for the Vincentian Family in Mozambique, since we will celebrate the 400th anniversary of the Congregation of the Mission in Magude (Province of Maputo), where the Assistant General, Fr. Nélio Pita, CM, will make an official visit to the priests and brothers of the Congregation, in addition to meeting with the Vincentian Family in each province: Maputo, Gaza, Central and North.

Finally, from September 5-8, in the framework of the feast of St. Vincent de Paul, another National Meeting of the Vincentian Family Movement of Mozambique will take place in Beira.

The National Council asks for God’s blessing and the support of all the branches so that the planned activities may develop in the best possible way, in addition to asking for prayers for the members of the Congregation of the Mission who celebrate this year the 400th anniversary of its foundation, an immeasurable grace that brings everyone to a feeling of infinite gratitude to the Lord who calls, welcomes, guides, enlightens and strengthens in the mission of serving and evangelizing the poor.
