Life in Us since Jesus Nourishes Us
Jesus is true food and true drink and is the word of eternal life. For us to have him nourish us is to have life in us as we abide in him and he in us.
It is the hour for love, which means love is what counts. It is, of course, about Jesus’ love for us, our love for him and his Father’s love for us. And if we truly love, we will keep Jesus’ word, the Father’s word, and we will have life in us. For the Father will love us, and he and Jesus will come to us and make their dwelling with us.
And their dwelling with us, their life in us, spells hope for us. After all, God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit.
Besides, for the Father and Jesus to dwell with us is for us to know the peace that Jesus gives. For if we abide in the Father and in Jesus, and they in us, who can be against us? No doubt, nothing—not anguish, distress, persecution, famine, nakedness, peril nor sword—can separate us from the love of Christ. For sure, no one can snatch us out of Jesus’ or the Father’s hand.
Hence, with faith, humility, and daring love, we continue our pilgrimage toward the Kingdom, “without fear.” Settling all dissension by the light of the Holy Spirit, with God as our light and the Lamb as our lamp.
Lord Jesus, nourish us every day with your word and with your body and blood. We shall thus have always life in us. Grant that our life be hidden in you and full of you, so that we cannot but live and die like you (SV.EN I:276). So that we may be men and women of prayer who can do all things in you, our strength (SV.EN XI:76).
