To support passionate students such as Frédéric Ozanam, Joseph Emmanuel Bailly opened his newspaper office as a gathering place, providing a wide selection of newspapers there for the students to read in order to keep up with current events. Lively discussion dominated the atmosphere in Bailly’s office. In 1825, six years before Frédéric arrived in Paris as a student, Bailly purchased a larger building located at 11 Place de l’Estrapade. In addition to boarding rooms, it had both a dining area and meeting space. Bailly’s home was next door at 13 Place de l’Estrapade. See Google Street View here
