Depaul and INA Collaborate on Sustainable Rehabilitation Project for the Homeless
Depaul Croatia and INA-Industrija nafte, d.d., a leading Croatian multinational oil company, have joined forces on a transformative rehabilitation project designed to promote environmental awareness and empower homeless individuals in Rijeka. The initiative is part of INA’s “Green Belt” program, which focuses on fostering green projects that benefit communities.
Participants in the program receive training to cultivate aromatic plants such as lavender and rosemary using sustainable farming techniques. By learning to recycle kitchen waste into organic fertilizer, they actively contribute to environmental preservation and biodiversity enhancement. The skills gained through the project aim to support their social reintegration and self-sufficiency.
Depaul representatives praised the collaboration, highlighting its dual impact on ecological awareness and social rehabilitation. They emphasized that providing hands-on experience and green skills builds confidence and creates meaningful opportunities for those in need. INA echoed this sentiment, reaffirming its commitment to sustainability and social responsibility through partnerships that drive positive change.
The initiative also includes community events where participants present their cultivated plants and handmade products, fostering connections between participants and the broader community. By integrating environmental stewardship with social support, Depaul and INA are setting an example for how corporate and non-profit partnerships can contribute to a more inclusive and sustainable future.
