Standing Up for Immigrants

by | Feb 5, 2025 | News

In response to the Community’s call to “join us in prayer and constructive action for our immigrant sisters and brothers,” faculty, staff, and students at Presentation Academy gathered for a prayerful vigil recently at the corner of 4th and Breckinridge Street in Louisville, Kentucky, USA. The vigil was organized by Sister Amina Bejos, a Sister of Charity of Nazareth who teaches at the academy.

This gathering served as a visible witness of solidarity with immigrants, reflecting the Gospel call to welcome the stranger and uphold the dignity of all people.

“While it is incredibly disappointing to still be here, advocating for the same human rights that were under threat four-plus years ago, the joy and pride that comes from seeing passionate young women standing up for justice gives me hope for humanity and for the future of this country.”

As the call to support immigrant communities continues, events like this vigil provide an opportunity to stand together in faith, prayer, and compassionate action.
