St. Agostina Pietrantoni: Seeing God in the Suffering Faces of the Sick
November 13 is the feast day of Saint Agostina Livia Pietrantoni (27 March 1864 – 13 November 1894), of the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of Saint Jeanne-Antide Thouret, patron saint of nurses.
In her home diocese in Italy, the liturgical feast of Saint Agostina Pietrantoni, is now celebrated on the second Sunday of September instead of on the 13th of November, to avoid the bad weather and storms typical of November. It’s also a good way for the people of Pozzaglia to conclude their holidays; the population of the small village is highest during the summer.
Learn more about the life of Saint Agostina in this presentation. Also below, see a video of the 2023 celebration at the piazza di Pozzaglia Sabina (her home town).
