The Heart of Jesus in the Spirituality of St. Louise de Marillac
Today is the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, designated the Friday after the Second Sunday after Pentecost (Corpus Christi Sunday).
“One New Testament text speaks explicitly of Jesus’ heart. In Matthew’s gospel, Jesus himself tells his followers: ‘Learn from me, for I am gentle and humble of heart.’ It was a text that Louise and Vincent loved to quote.”
– Fr. Robert P. Maloney, C.M. (2014) “The Heart of Jesus in the Spirituality of Vincent de Paul and Louise de Marillac,” Vincentian Heritage Journal: Vol. 32 : Iss. 1 , Article 8.
