The First Sisters of St. Vincent de Paul from Belgium in Brazil (1896)

by | Mar 16, 2023 | News

In 1896, the first missionaries of the Sisters of St. Vincent de Paul, Servants of the Poor, left for Brazil. They arrived in Olando and in 1898 the sisters came to São Paulo. There our Sister Lambertine became leprous and later died of this disease.

The Casa Pia in São Paulo belonged to the Ladies of Charity. Our sisters worked there very well, and today it is the Ladies who still use Casa Pia.
