Let the images and the text sink in, and take root. These images might surprise you into prayer at various points in your day.

Charity

“But above all, there is charity toward the foundlings, abandoned by their mothers, which attracts the artists’ attention. The canvas by Mauro Conconi, which recalls the exhortation to the Parisian ladies to continue their work for the benefit of the foundlings, is a high point in beauty among many other 19th century representations, where the tenderness of Saint Vincent’s charity emerges.”

This series is a visual memory of the great exhibition The Colors of Charity: Iconography of Saint Vincent de Paul in Italian art between the eighteenth and twentieth centuries, which was on exhibit from 15 December 2017 to 25 February 2018 at the Collegio Alberoni of Piacenza.

The Congregation of the Mission has “described these masterpieces in a video, in order to give a visual testimony and also to allow those who were not able to take part directly in the exhibition to enjoy its beauty.”
