On October 1, several important events took place at the House, God’s Gift.

There was the installation of the fourth Visitor of the Vice-Province of Sts. Cyril and Methodius – Father Leonid Kuklyshyn, СМ … he replaced Fr. Jan Tzop, СМ, the previous Visitor.

The new Visitor was greeted by Father Jaroslav Jaššo СМ, Visitor of the Slvakian Province;  Fr. Przemyslaw Nowakowski СМ, a representative from the Polish Province; the Marian Sisters,  as well as confreres and parishioners from the various houses of Congregation of Mission.

On the same day, the pilgrimage of the relics of St. Vincent de Paul began and the site of that event was Kiev. These are first- and second-class relics – a bone fragment, a letter written by St. Vincent de Paul, and a piece of cloth from Vincent’s cassock. The idea of this pilgrimage stems from the celebration of the 400th anniversary of the origin of Vincentian Charism and provides people with an opportunity to pray and to honor Vincent de Paul, the inspiration of the many different branches of the Vincentian Family. During the month of October, these relics will travel to various parishes throughout the city of Kiev. Then, they will be transported to Transcarpathia where the people of that area will have an opportunity to venerate those relics.

In his homily, Fr. Leonid said: «For almost six months the relics have been viewed and venerated throughout the Ukraine. We pray that St. Vincent will give a new heart to all of us, members of the Vincentian Family. In that way we will be able to imitate our Founder who communicated God’s love to those persons who were poor and marginalized and excluded from active participation in society».

The former Visitor of the Vice-Province, Fr. Jan Tzop СМ, thanked God for his three years of ministry. «I am grateful for all the graces, for the help and support that I received from so many many different individuals».

Father Anatolii noted that it is no coincidence that these events occurred on the day when we are celebrating the memory of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus. She was a modest, simple servant, but now she is honored as the patroness of the missions. Indeed, it is no coincidence that today as we receive the relics of Saint Vincent de Paul, one concerned about proclaiming the Good News to all people, we also celebrate and commemorate the life of the patroness of the missions! No, this is not a coincidence!  This is God’s will! The Lord guides us and empowers us to continue our journey with God and with our brothers and sisters.

May our founder, St. Vincent de Paul, lead and inspire the Visitor in his ministry, and may the Lord strengthen and inspire him! May the fruits of charity be increased!
