During this month of September, so special for the whole Vincentian Family, Fr. Tomaž Mavrič has visited the Vincentian communities of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where he has been pleasantly surprised by their witness of life and the strength of the Vincentian Charism.

He tells us himself:

In this Vincentian month, I had the grace to visit the CM Province of Congo, formed as such in 1991. Together with Father Zeracristos Yosief, CM., and the Visitor Bernardin Yoka Mongu, CM, we have been touring the different communities and I have been able to find the confreres, the Daughters of Charity and the members of different branches of the Vincentian Family. We have seen how they bear witness to the experience of the Charism in this part of Africa. Pray for this country and for the mission of the Church in the Congo.

I had a lot of experiences during my trip to the Democratic Republic of Congo. They were so many, that I do n to know I can tell you about all of them! It was nice to meet Daughters of Charity in the town of Bibwa and share about the project supporting abandoned girls. It was exciting to meet the children, encourage them to study to be independent and to help those in need, and with them we dreamed of careers as doctors, lawyers, nurses and why not: missionaries!

Then we moved to the town of Mbandaka to continue the meeting with our sisters. There, I discovered the DREAM project which Daughters of Charity manage to help women affected by AIDS. The goal of the project is to prevent form transmission of the disease from mother to child in the womb.

Thank you my brother, Fr. Zeracristos Yosief, C.M., for accompanying me and staying next to me on every stage of the journey!
