Serving in Cincinnati

by | Nov 16, 2017 | News, Society of St. Vincent de Paul

Inspired by the vision and passion of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul’s founder Frederic Ozanam, the Ozanam Center for Service Learning offers immersion experiences for groups of Cincinnatians to raise awareness, encourage mutual respect and promote solutions that bring impactful and lasting change to our community.

Rooted in the mission of St. Vincent de Paul, the Ozanam Center fosters compassion, understanding, and justice through the engagement of diverse individuals in service, education, and reflection. Our programs seek to connect people from diverse backgrounds, engage participants in poverty and justice issues in Cincinnati, and grow a commitment to long-term service.

Our team has facilitated experiences for a wide variety of groups from schools to churches, to professional organizations.

Custom-designed retreats provide an engaging, challenging and eye-opening immersion experience. Each retreat is tailored to meet your needs, creating a full-service package for your group. We offer both faith-based and secular retreats ranging from day-long to weekend or week-long experiences in our overnight facility housed at St. Vincent de Paul’s Liz Carter Outreach Center, located in the West End neighborhood of Cincinnati.

Some of the engagement activities include:

  • Home visits with St. Vincent de Paul members
  • Preparing and sharing a meal with the residents of the West End or Over-the-Rhine
  • A neighborhood photo-scavenger hunt
  • Group reflection and prayer
  • Volunteer work at St. Vincent de Paul or one of our many partner agencies
