On November 24, 2015, a warm-up center was opened by DePaul Ukraine foundation with the support of administration of the city of Kiev railway station.

Talks were going on for about a month. Thanks to God, we were able to open this Room, and now we can help people overcome temporary challenges in their life, warm them up in cold winter nights, feed them, shortly speaking – meet the most basic human needs. As the Church teaches us, we should see Jesus Christ in every person, and especially in those who found themselves at the very bottom of social life!

With God’s help, we have been working for five months already!

Every night we receive about 70-80 persons, who have no place to live and give them hot tea and sandwiches. We are very happy to have people committed to help us: Sisters of Mary of the Miraculous Medal, Vincentian Father, volunteers and benefactors. Special thanks go to ethno-café “Кіфлик” – Kiflyk as every Friday they cook delicious hot free dinner for the homeless. Every time something new and tasty is served: bograch (a traditional Hungarian meat soup stirred in big pot on open fire), groats, potatoes, etc.

During that time about 300 people have got their temporary refuge in the warming center, and 5 of them were helped to return to their homes. Every person in need has been granted necessary clothes and footwear!

It is very pleasant to see grateful smiles on faces of those who consider themselves rejected and who have lost all their faith and hope. It inspires us to take new steps and projects to help the homeless and needy!

Yours faithfully,
