Webinar: October 15 at 3:00 p.m. Eastern

Shoulder-to-Shoulder Advocacy With the Poor and Marginalized

Join Tom Dwyer, Voice of the Poor (VOP) National Committee Chair St. Vincent de Paul Society, and Benito Vega, Massachusetts State Coordinator for the Vincentian Re-entry Organizing Project, for a discussion about the difference between being a Voice “of” the Poor and a Voice “with” the Poor. Learn ways to help empower the poor and marginalized to speak for themselves and about the forces and factors which should be taken into account when Vincentians work shoulder-to-shoulder with the poor and marginalized in advocacy.

Benito will offer his perspectives as an ex-offender now working in a special Vincentian project to empower returning citizens and help them re-integrate into society as productive citizens. Tom will describe his experience and new-found understandings working shoulder-to-shoulder with Benito in this initiative.
