Saturday, September 20th, 2014
The Friends of the Poor® Walk/Run began as a national program with the purpose of providing local Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) Conferences and Councils the additional funds to help support their special works projects. Today, that philosophy continues, with Conferences and Councils using the funds from this event to help local people living in poverty. The Friends of the Poor Walk/Run® aids the work of SVdP Conferences and Councils, who provided 11.5 million service hours to help almost 15 million people last year.
Growing every year, the Friends of the Poor® Walk/Run made great strides in 2013! Attracting over 22,000 walkers, raising over $2.1 million, and having events at 232 different locations across the United States were all measures of success.
Thank you to everyone who supports the Friends of the Poor® Walk/Run, including every walk coordinator, walker, and donor. To help make a difference for those living in poverty, please register today to participate in the 2014 Friends of the Poor® Walk/Run!
The Friends of the Poor® Walk/Run is a national event coordinated by the Development Team at the National Council of the United States Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
