Great piece and post! It goes to show how inadequate and poor categories are “liberal” and “conservative.” Having said that and admitting myself a “liberal,” I’m fascinated that Pope Benedict XVI is a “liberal.” Happy too to find the National Catholic Register suggesting that “liberalism” can be defended. I thought defending “liberalism” belongs to the National Catholic Reporter.
