The Association of the Miraculous Medal in Perryville, Missouri, is celebrating its 95th anniversary. In 1918, the Association was established by the Western Province of the Congregation of the Mission (Vincentians) in Perryville, Missouri to spread devotion to Mary, especially under her title of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal.
The Association is privileged to have this special anniversary coincide with the election of Pope Francis. To welcome and support Pope Francis, members of the Association pledged to say more than 27,000 rosaries during the month of July and to have 143 Votive Lights burn for six months for his intentions.
During this “Year of Faith,” the Shrine Church has been designated as one of the places where pilgrims may receive a Plenary Indulgence. In conjunction with this designation, several steps have been taken to preserve and restore the beauty of the Shrine Church and grounds. On August 15th our newest addition, a new plaza area with a water feature, will be dedicated.
