The Rubik’s Challenge, organised by Depaul UK to benefit the homeless, was smashed on Thursday 22nd November when 1,414 school-children twisted their way into the Guinness World Record books by solving 80’s phenomenon, the Rubik’s Cube, at the SAME TIME in the SAME PLACE – within half an hour! It is hoped that the event will raise an amazing £100,000 through the support from schools and donations from the makers of the Cube.  ‘I am so grateful for the overwhelming support from schools and children across the capital and all those who joined us to break the World Record to raise awareness of youth homelessness.’    said Martin Houghton-Brown, Chief Executive of Depaul UK.

More success for Depaul’s Nightstop project when they were honoured at the TYNESIDE’S REGIONAL COMMUNITY HEROES CEREMONY, hosted by
Newcastle Building Society (NBS). The awards ceremony was a celebration from the Society to the communities in which it operates in recognition
of doing something outstanding within their local area.TheNightstop Hosts’ Group won the Whitley Bay Branch Award.
Sheila Clapperton, one of the Nightstop Hosts for DePaul UK, said:   “As a host what is important for us is that the charity offers support to the
young person as long as they need it and help them find a more permanent base. “The award is a nice ‘thank you’ for us but what is more important
is the charity gets the recognition it deserves for the help it provides to the young people that need it.”
