While powerful lobbies work to influence legislators and legislation who speak with and for the those who are on the margins in a world that seems to forgot a basic concept of Christianity – the “common good”.

The national SVDP USA site  writes, “As the Voice of the Poor we want to inform our elected representatives and our community how decisions affect the people we care for -our friends, the poor.  We want to hold our elected representatives accountable for the decisions they make that affect the poor.

You can be a Voice of the Poor by joining us in speaking as a unified voice on behalf of the poor.  Encourage members to speak about the services the Society of St. Vincent de Paul provides.

Advocating for the poor to state and federal legislators is a daunting task.  It requires a timely and targeted approach.  Capwiz allows the Vincentian family to reach out to lawmakers when there is a legislative action that affects the poor. Capwiz allows members to mobilize, reach out and track the progress of bills and laws.  It also provides information on members of federal and state legislators.
