Dr. Michael Thio International President of the SVDP writes, “On 9 May 2012 we were honoured by the visit of the Superior General of the Daughters of Charity, Sr. Evelyne Franc to our HQ in Paris. She was accompanied by Sr. Rosa Maria and Sr. Francois.

This is their first visit to our HQ. They were met by our President General, Dr. Michael Thio, Amin de Tarrazi, Chairman of the Canonisation Commission(and 12the President General) and Jean Tirado, Executive Director. They were shown round the office and introduced to the staff.

In our chapel there are the relics of St. Louise de Marillac and Blessed Sr. Rosalie Rendu which were kindly contributed to us by the DC and we are very grateful to them for this holy and special gifts.

We took the opportunity of the visit to discuss further with the DC with cordial exchange of views pertaining to the joint collaboration in praying for the canonization of Blessed Frederic and Blessed Sr. Rosalie. However, through the grace of God and should the possibility

exists for individual miracle be attributed to the intercession of each of the Blessed in close proximity of each other than we rejoice in a joint celebration for the joint canonization. We shall leave this to the will of God and may His will be done. We are

considering a collaborative prayer for the cause of the canonization of Blessed Rosalie and Blessed Frederic.

In the early days of the Society, our seven founders worked very closely with Blessed Sr. Rosalie and she was a great inspiration to Blessed Frederic and his followers. She provided them with tremendous advice and assistance in the formation of the first conference and assisted them in providing for and rendering services to the poor. She was a great asset to the early founders. Blessed Sr. Rosalie has a very special place in our beloved Society.

The DC and SSVP have been collaborating in working together in many projects around the world in Haiti, Kenya, Famine in Horn of Africa, Laos, Vietnam, Philippines,

Thailand, USA, South America, England & Wales, Europe, etc. to name a few. We harbour very close relationship with the DC and will continue to do so and grow in our mutual endeavour in serving Christ in the poor and needy.

Let us join in prayer for the canonisation of Blessed Rosalie and Blessed Frederic and the close and fraternal relationship between the DC and SSVP. In Jesus name wepray.
