Vincent was very concerned about the plight of prisoners. So it is quite appropriate for visitors to this site to read  about Sr. Nancy Murphy’s concrete suggestions for simple things that we can all to support prison ministry retreats.

Dear Friends,

Alleluia!  I hope and pray that each of you had a Blessed Easter and are continuing to enjoy this beautiful Easter season.

I wanted to let you know that I am very excited to be back volunteering in women’s prison ministry (after a 10+ year hiatus!)  I am a volunteer with KAIROS International Prison Ministry (KPMI)(www.kairosprisonministry.orgwill be on the team for a retreat at Albion Women’s Correctional Facility, Albion, NY from May 17-20.  Thirty-six women inmates will take part in this retreat.  The retreat format is similar to Cursillo (some of you may be familiar with that program) but it has been adapted for prison and it is Christian and not specifically Catholic.

I am writing to you to ask for support for this weekend retreat.  The most important support that I ask for is to say a prayer.   These women are in great need of your prayers as they take this step to know the Lord better and invite God into their hearts and their lives.  Another way to support these women is to write them a letter telling them that you are praying for them.  You can write one letter or several – and you can involve others in this effort – family members including children, friends, etc.  Lastly, you can make a donation to pay for this weekend.  All of the funds are raised by the KAIROS team members for written materials, snacks, meals, etc.  No donation is too small.  The attached  KAIROS Retreat Weekend Support Suggestions – April 2012 will give you the details for each of these ways to support this KAIROS retreat weekend.

Your prayer commitments can be sent back by email to me at snamurphy@hotmail.com or nancy.murphy@doc.org .  You can send any letters or contributions to me no later than May 10th to:

Sr. Nancy Murphy, 124 3rd Street, Niagara Falls, NY 14303

Please let me know if you have any questions regarding this.  Thank you for your consideration of support to this effort.  The women at Albion Prison and I are very grateful indeed.

Peace,

Sr. Nancy Murphy
