Benedict XVI says that addressing the needs of others is not just to “give bread to the hungry” but also to address the root causes of hunger. Among which the pope pointed to the current economic crisis. He made these comments as he met with Italian volunteers from the group Caritas Internationalis, the leading Catholic NGO in the world.
