Robert Maloney, C.M., former Superior General,  has been appointed to the Vincentian Chair for Social Justice. The Chair was established jointly in 1994 by the University and the Province in response to a challenge given to the Vincentians by Pope John Paul II himself: to search out, with ever-greater intensity, boldness, humility, and skill, the causes of poverty and to encourage the development of long and short-term solutions. Since that time, scholars from both outside and within the University have held the Chair and, through lectures, presentations, and educational programs, focused on these issues.

Father Maloney will spend one week each semester at St. John’s engaging  in issues related to eradicating poverty. Fr. Maloney will serve through the Office of the Executive Vice President for Mission and Student Services.
