The Superior General of the Congregation of the Mission, Fr. Gregory Gay, today sent a letter to P. Carlos de la Rivera, Provincial of the CM Province of Chile, expressing their solidarity on the occasion of the tragedy they are experiencing. Here are some excerpts:

“Thank you for your letter of March 2, on the situation after the earthquake of February 27. Above all, I share, along with all members of the Curia, the pain of the Chilean people, and united in prayer, we are sharing with you these dramatic moments ….

I have you all in my personal prayers too. Extend my greetings and my personal closeness to all our missionaries and students, to the Daughters of Charity and the members of the Vincentian Family in Chile. I pray to the Lord for the victims, for the millions of people affected and for all of you that the Lord would help you to be very “Vincentian” and especially close to the poor in these moments of great suffering.”

The letter also communicates information about financial support from the curia to Chile. You may make cash donations through the office of the CM Treasurer General. Contact the Vincentian community in your area for information. Please continue to check the CM Curia site for more information about how to help.
