St. John's University

St John's University is a Roman Catholic University in New York City. It was founded in 1870 by the Congregation of the Mission, at the request of the first bishop of Brooklyn, John Loughlin. Its main campus is in Jamaica, Queens. There are three other campuses in New York (Manhattan, Oakdale, and Staten Island) and a campus in Rome.

More than 100 programs are offered through the university; programs for which the university is widely known include business, law, liberal arts, and pharmacy.

The Vincentian Center for Church and Society is located at the Queens campus.

Standard and Poor's consistently ranks St. John's among the top universities in the nation with alumni who hold executive positions at Fortune 500 companies.

Ozanam Scholars

Each year thirty incoming Freshmen are invited to enroll in the university's Ozanam Scholars Program. The program offers the opportunity for students to work at locations in the United States and worldwide to research and to help implement best practicises for solving problems related to poverty.
