The Vatican is launching its own YouTube channel to engage more with the digital generation and better control Benedict XVI’s online image according to USA Today. Famvin.org provides Vincentian Family with its own YouTube channel.

The Vatican–which recently endorsed an iPhone prayer app and gave its blessing to gadget evangelism– is displaying further receptivity to technology with Saturday’s announcement that Pope Benedict XVI will get his own YouTube channel. (Zenit.org).- Benedict XVI is inviting youth to celebrate the next two World Youth Days at the diocesan level, leading up to a culmination in the 2011 Madrid event.

Pope Benedict says, “Internet today calls for an even greater integration of written, audio and visual communication, and raises the challenge of increasing and intensifying the methods of collaboration between means of communication that are at the service of the Holy See.”

Pope Benedict XVI said the current global financial crisis is the result of individuals seeking short-term monetary gains at the expense of the common good.

In his Angelus address on Sept. 28 Benedict said “I express appreciation for the “Making Me Study is Good for Everyone” campaign of the St. Vincent de Paul Society. In the spirit of St. Vincent, whom we celebrated in yesterday’s liturgy, this initiative is proposed to prevent the poverty of illiteracy.”
