Continuation of the Incarnation

by | Dec 16, 2016 | Formation

Think about the following:

The Incarnation is not an event of the past … Christ wants to be active among us. He still pursues His work of salvation, of healing. He comes to us in the Eucharist, in order to build up, in order to edify, in order to bring to completion our salvation.”
– from Vincentian Spirituality: A Correspondence Course with Sr. Elisabeth Charpy, D.C., Chapter 5: The Eucharist

Now replace the words “in the Eucharist” with “in the person of the poor.”

We will explore the idea of Christ’s real presence in the poor– the poor as sacrament, similar in a way to the Eucharist, in future posts. For now, in anticipation of Christmas, let us ponder “…the thought processes of Vincent de Paul. St. Vincent not only adores in the Host the Lord who died and has risen, but also the Savior who has been sent and is present today in the world and in human beings.” – Sr. Elisabeth Charpy, D.C.
