Vincentian Family Systemic Change Workshop in Ukraine – Day one of the systemic change workshop in Ukraine started very well with over 100 participants in attendance from many different parts of the Vincentian Family and other collaborators, with a large number of younger people in attendance. Following a warm welcome form Fr Tomaz Mavaric, Fr Guiseppe Turati introduced the systematic change commission to the group and outlined the work that has been done over the last 9 years.

Two stories of systemic change were then presented ‘Water Water’ by Jim Claffey and ‘Depaul Slovensko’ by Kerry Anthony. A presentation on the basic notion of systemic change was also provided before people broke off into groups to reflect on the day. Questions early on the day focused on how we encourage people and provide structures that enable them to help themselves and support one another.

The plenary session brought back a lot of conversation about the challenges and opportunities presented in applying Systemic change. We are all very excited about looking at this further tomorrow.
