svdp-logo-ausAccording to the Canberra Archdiocese website Vinnies (Australia) has a new headquarters in Canberra, which it says offers better physical accessibility and brings together teams previously working in separate buildings.

Archbishop Christopher Prowse officially opened and blessed the St Vincent de Paul Society’s new Canberra-Goulburn offices in Denison Street, Deakin.

Archdiocesan president Mr Frank Brassil said the society, which boasts a history of more than 100 years in the Archdiocese, had 3000 members and volunteers in the Archdiocese, as well as 24 Vinnies centres, 13 special works and 50 conferences.

The society was helping tens of thousands of people in need, and this role was its main concern.

He said the new premises also provided better facilities for meetings and for the call centre.
